Unsigned Bands look here!

leave a comment »

Unsigned.com is a new independent artists portal, where unsigned musicians and bands can socialise with fans, and other artists by, creating a profile, uploading Demos and hopefully getting discovered! I’ve seen it done a number of times over the net, but never as widespread and viaried as Unsigned.com is.

Since the initial lauch of their website, Unsigned.com has had feedback from over 4000 Artists and Music Lovers about how to improve the services so just about every requirement is covered, as are most genres – my favourite being some of the artists in the Indy genre.

Unsigned.com has many unique features, such as a Media Player, Playlist creator, Page Creator for your own profile and music classifieds for bands requiring members, instruments for sale etc…

Apart from their features, Unsigned.com has an attractive, easy to use, web interface – that is asthetically pleasing to the eye and remarkably easy to navigate. It has hints of the newly re-designed Bebo, with the Featured artist, and modern style.

I’d advise any unsigned, or independant artists or bands to visit Unsigned.com, it gives you an opportunity to expand your fanbase, socialise with other artists/fans, and perhaps get some work for your band!

ABC – Poison Arrow

leave a comment »

The band ‘ABC’ was formed in 1980 in Sheffield, UK, was originally called ‘Vice-Versa’ until lead singer Martin Fry came onboard, while interviewing the band for his fanzine Modern Drugs, he was taken on as their lead vocalist and the band was later renamed ‘ABC’.

The revamped band were pigeonholed as part of the ‘New Romantic movement’ of the time, which included the likes of Spandau Ballet, The Human League and Duran Duran .

Their first single, ‘Tears Are Not Enough’, made the UK Top 20 in 1981. Soon afterward. The above song ‘Poison Arrow’ was released in 1982, and was part of their debut album ‘The Lexicon of Love’. It reached #6 on the UK singles chart and #4 in Australia, it has also featured in the Rockstar game ‘Grand Theft Auto: Vice City’ which was set in 1986 (it can be heard on the station ‘Wave 103′ which features many 80′s New Wave artists, which we will more than likely feature!).

Blasts from the Past!

with one comment

With the awful music being produced today, I’m a non-conformist when it comes to my music. I’d much prefer to listen to New Wave 80′s music, than this new R’n'B fandango – of course the yung wans love ‘Justin Trouser Snake’, and the fine piece of work that sang ‘Umbrella’, of course you get the odd few into the 80′s like myself.

I’ve decided to somewhat rejuevenate the oldies and classics for any readers of the blog (and any passing guests – you should subscribe here for up-to-date blog postings!). I would class my self as an anorak, but evenings going through both my and my dad’s CD, Cassette and in some instances Record collections is fascinating – it brings back memories. I wasn’t even a dirty thought in my Dad’s mind during the 80′s, but he’s always enjoyed listening to it, and you’ll always find that you like the same genre of music as your parents (within reason!) as that is what you were subjected to at a young age, and more than likely you could hear it in the womb!

I will do a post a day containing one music/concert video, with some information on the band, song, etc… As well as recommend other music from the artist if I don’t intend on making any futher postsing about them. Chances are most of you will have heard the song before, and once you hear the intro you’ll remember!

Also, if there’s any songs you’d like featured, don’t forget to comment on the last made music post or alternatively contact me.

The first (of hopefully many!) music videos will be posted later on this evening.

Journey – Don't Stop Believing

leave a comment »

My favourite song at the moment is Don’t Stop Believing – by Journey. Not entirely sure for what reason though, it has a great tune and the lyrics are catchy. It’s a song you’ve heard before, and only remember it when you hear it on the radio or TV.

It’s been backing music in loads of shows such as The Soppranos, Scrubs, and Family Guy. So there’s a chance you’ve heard it.

I’ve only recently been getting into bands like Journey, that’s what happens when you go routing through your Dad’s CD collection…

Anyway, below is the song in its entirity. Although, it’s not the original video, it’s a makeup of scenes Final Fantasy – and there’s also the Family Guy take on it down there somewhere…

Hairy old Cortina!

leave a comment »

The best advertisement ever (in my opinion ever…although I am a ‘Ford Freak’!)

The ad for Nescafé first shown around 2002 or there abouts, featuring a

<insert needless Cortina lesson>
Later Cortina Mk3, L series, 1.6l,</end needless Cortina lesson>

meaning it would move…pity it’s only cruising in the advert! Still, they did it justice showing all the good angles…and they give it a bitchin’ fro’!

The backing song “Funky Cold Medina” sang by Tone L?c, but has been modified in the context simular to Dustin the Turkey’s version “Funky Ford Cortina”.

Sorray!

Sorry I haven’t lived up to my promise of a daily blog. But I have done most days a daily blog but I have ben busy as fuck since Thursday. For one I completly rebuilt madringo.com which took some fooking hours to get right. The contact page alone took 2 hours…My parents got me a new phone on Friday for doing the Junior Cert. They bought me a Nokia 6230i. This phone is the dogs bollocks in my opinion. mp3 player, radio, video, 1.3 mp camera and all the other phone crap. It’s not like I need another phone, but the one I won hasn’t arrived yet after 2 fookin’ week :( But on the plus I am nearly Finished the Junior Cert. Just one more exam left on Monday which is woodwork. BTW our projects were “examined” on Tuesday. I wonder how I did….too fookin’ late now!

I am after getting into some cool bands over the past weeks just by going through (and “borrowing”) my Dads CDs. Some of the bands I recommend are “The Horslips”, “An Emotional Fish”, and “Television Screen”. These are cool Irish rock bands which really rock as they are the dogs bollocks!

I have been working behind the scenes in this bastarding thing trying to make it bigger, better and faster! But it isn’t going well so we’ll leave it at that!

Anyone see Big Brother on Friday or Tonite. See that cunt Grace plastering Sussy with a cup of water. I wonder why Sussy didn’t get up and plant Grace a solid into the jaw. Fucking spoilt posh totty. Up hers! Pete or Glin to win! :) :-)

I’m a bit merry this eve, was at a Christening and my Unlces kept putting Cider and Whores, I mean Coors light in front of me. Me not wanting to insult I put up no arguement. Just don’t be too loud tomorrow!

Oh Got my ould Fella a savage CD for Fathers Day which is today (hehe). Got him the best of Irish Rock which has all the best music like ever on it. He better like it….but I don’t mind if he doesn’t cos I wouldnt mind that CD.

Bye Now, I’m off to kick a badger….
